HMD BAR & GRILL is one of the businesses of HMD Enterprises, located in Chicago Ridge, IL. We were tasked with performing local SEO for the restaurant, running Google Ads, and driving traffic from the Chicago Ridge area. The restaurant positioned itself not just as a bar, but also as a venue for watching sports events, dates, or hosting events. The menu and zoning of the restaurant allowed for a date night, birthday party, or just a relaxing company retreat at the same time. At the time the client approached us, they already had a landing page.

We evolved the landing page into a full-fledged website. We created a separate gallery page with photos, a menu page, and event pages. In addition to the well-known TripAdvisor, Yelp, we collected all directories and aggregators and placed the site on them. We added the site to Google Maps and Bing Maps. To rank high across all resources, we began attracting reviews. Launched Google Ads for Google Maps, retargeting, and Display Ads with attractive photos of dishes and the restaurant’s ambiance. We targeted an audience located directly in Chicago Ridge and the surrounding area. Meanwhile, our partners were launching Instagram, Facebook for HMD BAR & GRILL, working on improving their TripAdvisor presence, and connecting the site to the OpenTable reservation service. We performed on-page optimization of the site for local queries. Attracted 60 backlinks. Placed promotional articles on various resources using outreach.

By focusing on the Chicago Ridge area and nothing else, we have taken a leadership position.

Result

The website on TripAdvisor and other aggregators became a TOP10 restaurant in Chicago Ridge. Display Ads attracted our first visitors and increased the restaurant’s recognition in our target region. We turned off advertising on Google Maps after 2 months, as we pushed our Google Business profile into the TOP3 in the region. Consequently, in Google Ads, we only kept retargeting.

Thanks to proper text optimization, creating separate landing pages for specific queries, and link building, we reached the TOP5 in organic search within 2 months for queries like “restaurants in Chicago Ridge”, “restaurants near me”, “birthday venue Chicago Ridge”, “wedding banquet hall Chicago Ridge”, “baby shower Chicago Ridge”. By building separate landing pages for the events and promoting their queries to high positions, we increased restaurant bookings for the events by 450%. No other restaurant in the region achieved such results in Local SEO.
